November 11, 1976, legendary rock band Kiss released their fifth studio album Rock and Roll Over. This album peaked at #11 on the Billboard charts, and includes hits such as “Calling Dr. Love” and “Hard Luck Woman”.
The band had this album on the shelves not even eight months after the release of their huge commercial hit Destroyer. This album doesn’t necessarily have the heaviness of Destroyer, but you can definitely hear that they’re accessing sound and style from the first three records. It was recorded in an empty theater (with Criss’ drumming recorded in a bathroom) in order to attempt to capture the live sound that the fans responded so well to. Rock and Roll Over went platinum on January 5, 1977- not even three months after its release and holds the top spot for ‘best record’ in the hearts of many Kiss fans.
