Paul Stanley, front man and co-founder of legendary hard rock band Kiss, is now the singer of a soul music cover band. Titled ‘Paul Stanley’s Soul Station’, the 11 piece cover band is to play a myriad of soul classics from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Playing hits from bands such as The Temptations, Smokey and the Miracles and the Dramatics, fans should not expect your typical ‘Paul Stanley’.
“I don’t play guitar in the band and we don’t do a single Kiss song” says Stanley in a press release, “That’s not what this is about”. “Soul Station is my chance to celebrate it for a night that’s real, live and faithfully recreates the sound with the respect it deserves…These songs, arrangements and sound just blow you away.” Having the ‘it’ refer to the music of Stanley’s youth that came prior to the rock and roll hysteria, I wouldn’t walk into this show expecting the flamboyant Paul Stanley we all know and love.
The 11 piece cover band consists of;
- Paul Stanley (vocals)
- Rafael ‘Hoffa” Moreira (guitar/backing vocals)
- Sean Hurley (bass)
- Alex Alessandroni (keyboard)
- Ely Rise (keyboard)
- Eric Singer (drums/backing vocals)
- Ramon Yslas (percussion)
- Nelson Beato (backing vocals)
- Crystal Starr (backing vocals)
- Ayana Layli (backing vocals)
The groups only concert (as far as we know) is on September 11, 2015 at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, ticket sales began August 4th and from what I can see they run about 70.00 a ticket, give or take some applicable fees.
