If you’re a fan of all the dirty details revealed in ‘The Dirt’- then you’ll be thrilled to know that Vince Neil recently told Las Vegas Magazine that the film based on the book may reach theaters in 2016. Neil told Las Vegas Magazine that some of the recent behind the scenes changes done to the movie includes a new script, which he says to be a vast improvement in comparison to what they previously had. Along with that, an approximate release date of summer 2016 was revealed. Neil says “This movie should be out in the summer of 2016. It does stay pretty close to ‘The Dirt’, so if you’ve read ‘The Dirt’, it’s really something to look forward to.”
The film is being directed by Jeff Tramaine, who’s best known for his work with the Jackass films, and according to Hollywood Reporter, the movie was picked up by Focus Features.
In an interview with Jeff Tramaine for Loudwire he states that the focus of the movie is predominately the band’s first ten years, but they’ll be showing the whole progression of up’s and down’s had by the band throughout their entire career. He also says that the movie production beginning and the final tour ending is simply a coincidence, and that nothing was timed out for marketing purposes- it’s just how things fell into place.
Casting wise, drummer Tommy Lee told GMI ROCK NEWS that they’re “going with all unknowns”, particularly because when you cast a very well known actor all the roles they’ve ever done comes with them, and it’s important that when someone’s watching the movie they’re seeing Vince, Tommy, Mick and Nikki, not every role an actor has ever done. The actors who are cast will spend some quality time with the band out on the road. Lee says “I can just imagine some twenty-five year old actor getting the part and being sent on the road to hang out and study us.”
‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band’ is an autobiography written by the members of Motley Crue, Neil Strauss and the Motley managers- where the band’s decadent lifestyles and tribulations are discussed in depth. The book is a must read for all Motley Crue fans, or anyone who wants to read a true depiction of the ‘sex, drugs and rock & roll’ lifestyle.
