It has been a brutal few months in the music industry- with deaths from icons such as Lemmy Kilmister and Scott Weiland. It deeply saddens me to write about the passing of another icon in the industry, David Bowie. He passed away yesterday, January 10th, only two days after his 69th birthday after a strenuous battle with cancer.
The news of his passing was posted on Bowie’s social accounts with the message:
“David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this time of grief.”
Bowie has recorded tons of classic tracks during his long career, and although he hasn’t toured in over 10 years he was still active in the industry- and even released an album called Blackstar on January 8th, his birthday. His influence holds no boundaries and he has impacted artists from nearly every genre of music, and has inspired millions with his uniqueness throughout the years.
