On September 23, original RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer announced that he had officially taken over the RATT name and is planning on going out and playing some shows. The group that was previously Bobby Blotzer’s RATT Experience is now RATT, and that isn’t sitting well with original RATT guitarist, Warren DeMartini.
DeMartini told Blabbermouth.net that he doesn’t have any problems with Bobby playing RATT’s music with other people, but that he does have an issue with Blotzer calling his ‘tribute band’ RATT.
The RATT name was shared between Warren DeMartini, Bobby Blotzer and original lead singer Stephen Pearcy up until Pearcy left the band in 2000. Although he did rejoin the band, he never regained ownership. Following the leave of Pearcy, Blotzer expressed that we would like to keep RATT going but with a new singer, however DeMartini did not want to tour with Blotzer without Pearcy.
The new RATT lineup is:
- Josh Alan (vocals)
- Scotty Griffin (bass)
- Bobby Blotxer (drums)
- Doc Ellis (guitar)
- Blaze (guitar)
The line up is the same as Bobby Blotzer’s RATT Experience, however as of now they are officially RATT. Warren DeMartini is looking into what he can do to prevent Blotzer from touring under this name, as he is completely unauthorized to do so.
